What are the various applications of the sonnen systems?

What is the warranty period for a sonnen battery and how does it compare? 

sonnen offers a 10-year Factory Limited Warranty on all its intelligent battery systems. This means that your investment is protected for 10 years or 10,000 charge cycles, whichever comes first. During the warranty period, all components of your sonnen battery are covered: the inverter, all power electronics, the energy manager and battery modules.  You can see the warranty information here.

What makes sonnen batteries safer than others? 

All sonnen products, including the eco, use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries because of their stability, durability, performance, and environmental friendliness. As part of the lithium-ion family they are rechargeable, but unlike other lithium batteries LFP is specifically designed for stationary energy storage and offers a safe, long-lasting technology that outlives EV batteries, like nickel manganese cobalt(NMC).   

Additionally, LFP batteries are 100% cobalt-free and therefore 100% recyclable at any R2 recycling facility.  sonnen has a recycling program at their Innovation Hub headquarters outside of Atlanta and environmental sustainability is a critical part of our focus.

Eco and eco linx 

What are the size options for eco and is solar required? 

• The eco home battery solution is scalable from 10 kWh - 20 kWh in 2.5 kWh increments to provide maximum flexibility to help you power more than just the basics.  If you have an eco product installed and would like to expand capacity, it is possible. Please consult with your sonnen certified integrator or installer to size and design the system that is right for your home. 

Can ecoLinx work with a Virtual Power Plant? 

• Yes! If you have an ecoLinx installed on your home and live in an area with an active Virtual Power Plant, the ecoLinx can be included in the VPP!  Please visit our Virtual Power Plant page for more information.  

sonnenCore+ 

Does sonnenCore+ provide backup power? 

• Yes! Like all sonnen home batteries, the sonnenCore protects your essentials from power outages, including keeping your lights on, your home network running and your refrigerator cold (up to 60kWh (as noted below when stacked)). The number and kinds of appliances you can backup varies. Please consult with a sonnen certified installer on your backup power needs to design a system that is right for your home. 

Does sonnenCore+ work with my solar array? 

• Yes, sonnenCore is designed to work with any new or existing solar systems to store excess energy from the sun and the electricity grid. The smart battery management software intelligently controls when the stored energy is used to power your home -during peak times of day, at night or in an outage. While you can install a sonnenCore without solar, we recommend pairing it with solar to power your home with clean energy and keep the lights on during longer outages. Please consult with your sonnen certified installer to design the system that is right for your home. 

How many sonnenCore+ units can stack together? 

• sonnenCore+ can stack up to 3 systems per home for a total battery capacity of 60kWh. Systems must be stacked in either all 10kWh OR all 20kWh increments, you cannot mix and match. 

sonnenEvo 

What is unique about the sonnenEvo? 

• The sonnenEvo is our first outdoor home battery solution developed for the Americas. It is a fully integrated AC-coupled solar power battery storage that has an IP56 outdoor rating, so our solar battery can be installed outdoors. 

What is the sonnenEvo's battery chemistry? 

• The sonnenEvo contains a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cell that customized by sonnen. Known as the sonnenModule 4, it has 10kWh of usable storage capacity and it is made up of two 5.0 kWh battery modules.
