sonnen chosen for the MIT list of the 50 most innovative companies

Los Angeles, October 11, 2016 - Once a year, the renowned U.S. research institute the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) honors the most innovative companies in the world. The list of "50 Smartest Companies 2016" in the MIT Technology Review includes 50 companies that are known for their innovation and unique business models. Among them are the Who's Who of Silicon Valley from Google and Tesla to Amazon and Facebook.

For the first time, sonnen is honored to be part of this elite list ranking 28th, respectively. Sonnen is one of two German-based companies to receive this award. "MIT has added sonnen into the mix with companies like IBM and Bosch, acknowledging the innovative power of storing and managing the sun in a unique way," says Philipp Schröder, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of sonnen.

sonnen has been selected for its global accomplishments including the smart solar battery, the sonnenBatterie, and the sonnenCommunity, where members are sharing their excess stored self-generated solar energy. MIT’s Technology Review touts "sonnen’s smart batteries, which include software to manage daily household energy use in addition to storing excess energy for use later, are transforming the electricity market in Germany", as justification for placing the company on the Top 50 list.

The compay conintues to innovate products and service to answer growing market needs. In the U.S., the changing solar landscape is driving customer demand for new products that address key target markets.
