Enbala Power Networks and sonnen Partner to Increase the Impact of Distributed Energy Resources

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – June 30, 2016 – Enbala Power Networks and sonnen, Inc. announce a strategic alliance that combines sonnen’s award-winning residential and commercial energy storage technology with Enbala’s industry-leading distributed energy resource management platform.

The integration of the sonnenBatterie with the Symphony by EnbalaTMdistributed energy aggregation and control platform, provides utilities and their customers with a robust, all-in-one solution for using energy storage to balance distributed renewable and traditional generation on the utility grid.

“Distributed battery storage is rapidly becoming a pivotal technology in enabling the transformation of the utility grid through better management of rapidly growing intermittent generation,” said Enbala CEO Arthur “Bud” Vos.  “We are fortunate to be working with sonnen in a common vision to enable the tremendous potential of distributed generation, for the benefit of both energy utilities and energy consumers.”

The sonnenBatterie battery storage and energy management technology is now integrated with Enbala’s grid balancing software, creating the ultimate combination of decentralized generation, advanced battery storage, real-time distributed intelligence and control and “always-on” grid optimization that is needed to fully harness the value of distributed energy resources.

“Enbala and sonnen are combining our advanced technologies to intelligently manage distributed resources and assets on the utility grid – a critical solution to increasing grid stability and unlocking new revenue streams for sonnen’s residential and commercial customers,” said Boris von Bormann, CEO of sonnen, Inc. “Enhancing our smart sonnenBatterie energy management systems with the distributed intelligence and control of Symphony by Enbala is a win for us, our customers and the world’s utilities, grid operators and energy service providers.”

Utility customers benefit from dramatically reduced power costs, improved power quality, the ability to participate in energy markets and greater energy autonomy. Utilities themselves benefit from an enhanced ability to handle the variability and unpredictability of renewable energy resources.  The enhanced distributed energy control provided by the Enbala platform also creates new opportunities for virtual power plants and for enhanced applications such as renewable firming, voltage management and frequency regulation.

About Enbala Power Networks®

Enbala Power Networks is focused on making the world’s power grids greener and more reliable, efficient and predictable by harnessing the power of distributed energy. Enbala’s real-time energy-balancing platform - Symphony by EnbalaTM- is transforming energy system operations through its revolutionary, highly flexible approach for creating controllable and dispatchable energy resources. It unobtrusively captures and aggregates available customer loads, energy storage and renewable energy sources to form a network of continuously controlled energy resources. The platform dynamically optimizes and dispatches these resources to respond to the real-time needs of the power system – all without impacting customer operations.  For more information, visit http://www.enbala.com or follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/Enbala.
